New tomato varieties at CVF

Costoluto Genovese

Black Krim
Karen from the "Art of Doing Stuff" gave me these.
Looking forward to seeing the results.
Thanks Karen.

Maybe a photography blind down at the pond.

In 1998 we traveled to the Bay of Fundy with the RBG.
We ended up in a blind on Michias Seal Island photographing Puffins.
I am thinking of  building a blind at CVF.
Anybody want to help?

I wonder who will be the next to collect their ride.
Contact me if you chose the winning name.

Last year we had a Mallard Duck nesting in our bonfire pile.
This year there's a duck in the hayfield.
Not really good choices.

Now this looks like a fun event.

Flashback: When the garden was huge

Many year ago we had a garden about 5 times as big.
Then we could work the land with the team.
Here is Ross disking with Connie & Tara.
But then we had lots of mouths to feed.

The big garden is planted.

Thanks to Chris & Hazel for all your help.
Still lots of room for squash and pumpkins.

Bluebirds & Baltimore Orioles at CVF

Flag pole seat

Steve helped cut the flag pole down.
Chris came up with a base for the old cultivator seat.
Great seat to sit & watch the garden grow.

Should chickens eat grass clippings?

Heidi thinks so.
And they sure do like them.

Tomatoes in the cold frame

We planted some of our tomato plants inside the cold frames.
This gives them an early start & protects them from frost and wind.
Maybe tomatoes by July 1st?
